Bangwallop would like to say a big thank-you to Charlie Waite for running a fantastic two day landscape photography course on the 12th and 13th of October.
The weather on Monday and Tuesday was beautiful and we were treated to a fantastic sunrise over Salcombe on Tuesday morning.
The course began with an introduction from Charlie followed by a walk out to the a local estuary and a chance to experiment with different filters and exposure techniques. In the afternoon we headed out to South Milton Sands, and photographed the shore line before heading up onto the cliffs between Hope Cove and Thurlestone for sunset.

Tuesday began at 6.30am photographing sunrise over Salcombe, and by 9 o clock everyone was ready to head back to Bangwallop for breakfast and coffees. This also gave a good opportunity to look through some of the pictures from the previous day and have a brief introduction to processing RAW files, and doing conversions to black and white.
After lunch the harbour taxi picked everyone up from the quay behind Bangwallop and ferried us over to East Portlemouth, where we spent the afternoon using waves and rock pools to practice long exposures.
The course finished with an opportunity for people to show their own work to Charlie and the rest of the group.

We would like to announce the winner of our landscape photography competition. After receiving many high calibre entries Charlie Waite and the team here at Bangwallop have decided on a winner. We were looking for an outstanding shot of The West Country and would like to congratulate Steve Meddle for his winning image ‘ Stormy Skies Over Goodrington Sands’ taken in Paignton Devon.
Winner

“I was on holiday in Torbay when I took this image and the weather was not great that day so we walked along the seafront which was empty, but the deckchairs were all out and then I spotted this scene, waited for the wind to pick up again to blow the canvas about on the empty deck chairs and then caught it” Steve Meddle
Steve is ‘thrilled to meet one of the greats of landscape’ his prize will be to join Charlie Waite on his two day landscape photography course that we’re looking forward to hosting at Bangwallop next week. Steve has been hooked on photography since he started working in his grandfather’s camera shop 25 years ago.
